Awkwafina An American singer and actress began with a series of rap songs which dealt with the subject of race and sexuality. Her career expanded to Hollywood when she dropped several rap songs. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents within Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through the trumpet. In the following years, she took up the classical and hip-hop genres. In college, she focused on her studies, and then took up a degree in women's studies and journalism. While she was for a brief amount during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. When she graduated, she started to focus on music. After becoming famous through the Internet, her song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually appeared on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also featured hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter track was tied to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide for 2015, which was a travel guide. After a successful career as a musician, she decided to take on the role of an actor. In addition to early series like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
